This album happened after about 5 years of trying to record an album. It was inspired by the purchase of a tape machine.
After a long time of getting frustrated and anxious trying to use computers to record my own music, I found that recording to tape was basically fun. And because there wasn’t much editing capability, I didn’t get dragged down worrying about mistakes. Keeping things raw was feeling really good.
A variety of songs, improvised and structured, began to appear almost automatically. And I didn’t want to mess with them too much so left them as they were, with a basic mix and enough’s enough. Towards the end of the process I got a bit more adventurous and started to record some songs I’ve had in the bank for a while, getting them as good as I could, but nevertheless allowing the past to be the past, mistakes to be mistakes, and love to be love. Happy New Year! X
